April 2014: Ely Cathedral and the creative community

by admin on April 2, 2014

Lesley Ann ThompsonFresh from a hectic few weeks at Ely Cathedral – where a production of Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard was recently filmed – Lesley Ann Thompson, the Cathedral’s Director of Communications, joined us to discuss how they play a part in the creative community.

With concerts, cultural events and film screenings, Ely Cathedral is part of the creative community in Ely as well as a place of worship. Just ask anyone who was in the massive queues for recent Toppings events with Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, or who marvelled at the river snaking down the aisle during the recent flower festival.

Lesley spoke about the many ways the building has been used for creative events as well as the many ways she’d like to see it used. From theatrical productions to art exhibitions and photo shoots, if there’s something you’d like to use the Cathedral for just get in touch with them – they may well say yes!

Ely residents living in a CB6 or CB7 postcode can now enter the Cathedral for free. To claim your annual pass just take proof of your address to the Cathedral’s information desk.
